I missed National Lightning* Safety Week last week (oh no!) but I’m stretching it out through now. According to the lightning experts, possible (and terrible!) symptoms after being hit by lightening are memory loss, attention deficits, sleep disorders, chronic pain, numbness, dizziness, stiffness in joints, irritability, fatigue, weakness, muscle spasms, depression, and more. So it’s no joke. Also, 6 Americans have died this year after being hit by lightning. Let Officer Jeff, Jay, Levi, Steven, Gary, and Michael be reminders of how men** die every year from lightning. Go indoors. Be safe***.
*Lightning isn’t the same as lightening. Thanks Ken! One of those things I just stupidly didn’t think about.
**some women have died, too. But they’re usually doing less golf-y things. For examples, see 2010, the year of death by lightning on Tuesdays and Sundays.
***I sincerely mean to be safe. This isn’t a joke in the slightest.
