Tax day this year is Monday, April 18 instead of Friday, April 15. Why? Emancipation Day falls on Saturday, April 16, but it is observed in D.C. on Friday, April 15. So, the IRS to extended the tax filing deadline because under the tax code, filing deadlines can’t fall on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.
So, you have an extra weekend to file this year, and you have to move the tax party to the first Seder, which makes for a pretty odd party. Wandering through the desert for freedom + taxes = good food for thought.
