TSA and the NTEU Union? It’s THE only step down.

From the most recent NTEU e-newsletter:

Tentative Dates Set for TSA Union Election: March 9 through April 19 is the tentative six-week window for a union representation election at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Because of that success, President Kelley is confident that NTEU will prevail in the end. “This important election, together with the much-anticipated collective bargaining rights, will mark the start of a new and exciting chapter for TSA employees, their agency and the traveling public,” she said.In the years since NTEU began organizing at TSA, the union has built a strong following among the agency workforce through a model providing effective local, on-the-ground representation to employees in both workplace and disciplinary affairs. “

Here’s the thing though, TSA employees-with-a-choice. You’ll just have to deal with more stupidity and headaches than you do now. Many union reps are not professional, as they claim, though they are in fact everywhere. I wouldn’t want to negotiate with these unreasonable know-it-alls who think they’re good advocates when they’re really just ubber-self interested, and do you really want obnoxious negotiators working for you?

TSA chumps – you’re just like other federal employees – under-appreciated but taken care of at the end of the day. You don’t need NTEU telling anyone that, because once the Union’s involved, efficiency and logic go down the tube. You could do better by using your own voice.
