Repetition is bliss (?)
Friend: Second email from you today subject lined "FYI." Actually, this was in all caps. The other wasn't.

Google's Project 10^100 is pretty amazing...
Google’s giving away 10 million dollars to fund 5 good ideas. The ideas came out of more than 165,000 submissions from all over the world and are combinations of many submissions, highlighting that a lot of people have the right idea and the whole is stronger than just its parts. I like this instead of making it about having just 5 individual winners, because really, most of those contests are too...

why DO we do this “ies” thing? I rather like “ys” better.
Can we change that? am I in the minority here?

Games Excitement!
Sometimes, I get a little bummed that people don’t seem as into games (especially board games) as I do. I mean, in my mind, what could be more fun?! I love the teamwork and competition, the strategy and the curveballs, the set-up and winning, and following (or making up) the rules. They keep my mind flexible and excited.
Monday night, I played Risk with 3 friends who don’t tend to get...

My friend Laura founded an incredible nonprofit, Health Horizons International, which aims to improve the quality of health and healthcare in the Dominican republic. I’m constantly moved by her stories and reflections, especially after visiting in March and seeing the task she has taken on with her team. As she heads back to the US to assume her role as Executive Director, these are her...

I visited Sukkah City today in Union Square. It was awesome. Wish I knew about it earlier. My favorite was Sukkah of the Signs, and I hope it wins. Check out all the designs online though….it’s really something. And the winning Sukkah will be on display in Union Square for the whole festival of Sukkot.
And a Sukkah, if you’re wondering, is an “ephemeral, elemental shelter,...

The ones who are hardest to love are usually the ones who need it the most.

Let’s keep these words in mind on this Yom Kippur and always.

Did everyone know...
Did everyone know that ConEd stands for Consolidated Edison, Inc.? I feel like I’ve been living under a rock protecting me from irrelevant but general knowledge. Don’t know what to do about it.

Dear JENNIFER, After months of hard work, our senior toy maker has finally finished making your games. All the game pieces have been carved by hand to your exact specifications. The board was painstakingly hand-painted to be a glorious work of art. Then the contents were inspected by a team of 30 highly trained employees to ensure that your games would be perfect for the upcoming game night...

Latest customer service issue: @askcapitalone
I went out to a restaurant last night with 2 people. We all ordered a pizza and a beer (don’t judge, we were hungry). It was expensive pizza but you know what, it was delicious and had egg on it. Anyway, split on three cards, each of our bills came to ~$27. I used my Capital One credit card and clearly wrote $32.00. No problem. Signed it and we were set.
I got an email notification from...

Disney heiress is smart about... estate taxes?!... →
Abigail Disney has a really good head on her shoulders. On top of being a leading philanthropist and talented documentary filmmaker, she’s a beneficiary of a huge estate…and understands the taxes behind it.
Now, if only she’d get rid of the pigtails, I could take her completely seriously.
