Volatile Redheads killed it tonight @mothstories
The esteemed Liz Manno and I finally got to be judges at a Moth Story Slam tonight at The Bitter End! After braving the cold by waiting in line for 1.5 hours, we got a seat front and center for Disaster. Hosted by the wonderful Jen Hixon and Sara Barron, each story slam features 10 storytellers who have 5 minutes to tell a story “live without notes” on the given theme de soir. Then, 3...
Dear First Lady Michelle, →
This made me LOL.
woodlandcreature:
Dear Michelle,
Can I borrow some money so we can move into an apartment and buy a new Mustang convertible? I don’t mean to waste money. I will use some of the money to buy a drum set and have a cool pool. Can I have $10,000 to buy my passport to go to Las Vegas? Send me a picture of the White House and the statue of Abraham Lincoln.

The Eyetwitch
I’m nearing the end of day 7 of eye twitching. A few things have come of this curious bodily function:
- I’ve over-explained it to people who haven’t noticed it
- I’ve researched eye twitching and still don’t know the cause
- I have been moving my right pinky involuntarily at increasing rates as this has continued.
- I don’t know how long is too long before...

Kiva Groupon! →
1) you should buy one. Can also buy as a gift…
2) what a great way for Groupon to say “we care about philanthropy!!!”
3) dislike how the picture they chose highlights being one of Oprah’s favorite things.

A perfectly acceptable cult.
Zumbafreak is actually crazy you guys. She had already gone to two Zumba classes by 3pm, and was getting ready for a non-stop, all out 90-minute session by pounding a cranberry vodka while sporting a special Zumba thumb-band and pointing out managers from all of the clubs who were making guest appearances. Meanwhile, exercisers of all levels waiting for this class were pumped up - a live drummer!...

You should read this fantastic article about my friend and mentor in college Mark Alston-Follansbee. He works for the Somerville Homeless Coalition and has the most incredible passion for his work.
When I’m sick my voice is much less abrasive. I think that’s rare.

How long can you go without IRL interaction? →
Cristin (@csnorine) is living for the entirety of November in a class showcase in front of a store. Yea, public display of life has been done before in museums and stuff, but never really with this spin of allowing technology as the vector for interacting with the world. It’s pretty interesting…I’ll be curious to hear her take on the month when it’s over.

This is a very important piece. Listen, please. →
The homeless women veteran population is completely underserved, and we need to try to strengthen our support for them, especially because they risked their lives to support us. At the very least, please be sensitive that this population exists.

A hilarious kid story - guaranteed laugh.
From an email from my friend who teaches 4th grade:
Spelling quiz directions: use each vocabulary word in a creative sentence that show the word’s meaning. Word: eliminate Student 1’s answer: I will eliminate you if it’s the last thing I do on this filthy planet. Also: Word: Incredulous Student 2’s answer: I would be incredulous if I saw a 3-month old Dominican baby...

When a great adventure is offered, you don’t refuse it.

This is sort of how I tend to operate, so it really resonates. If you don’t jump at a great adventure, or even recognize it when it’s there, you’re really not living at all.

Do you have thoughts about ice cream?
Even if you don’t please take this 4 minute or less survey created by my friend Adam, who needs lots of people to take this thing for a class. I promise you’ll find it entertaining and confusing and wonder what it will show in the end. Here was my favorite question:

A Subway Story.
Yesterday on the 2 train to Brooklyn, there were a lot of people. Right after all the people weaseled themselves out of the train and onto the train at Atlantic Ave., the train announcer came on:
Ladies and Gentlemen, the next stop on this train will be Atlantic Ave. Again, this will be running express to Atlantic Ave. The next train will be making all local stops.
Cue PANIC!!! Clearly, train...

What time IS it? →
Daylight savings time always confuses me. What’s the deal now…we replay 2-3am on sunday? This is exciting.
Also, why won’t my iPhone get it; shouldn’t it know this stuff? Is that why it’s randomly making an 8am alarm an hour earlier these days? WHAT IS GOING ON?! WHAT IS TIME?! WHAT’S WRONG WITH ARIZONA?!

Guacamole and Margaritas made by me? DELISH!
I purchased a $10 margaritas and guacamole class through LivingSocial that I took tonight with my friend Leah at Burrito Bar. SO WORTH IT.
We started with the guacamole, which we made in a mexican bowl called a molcajete. First we added jalapenos (roasted, and about a spoonful), salt (1/3 of a spoon), garlic (I failed on this! did too much! a little bit goes a long way…), and cilantro (a...
